Waiting for two weeks now for an appt. with an orthopedist for a fractured finger.
Fracture was noted on first X-rays, but dismissed by nurse practitioner. She prescribed range of motion exercises that caused more pain, bruising and swelling.
My case manager at Protegrity will not return my phone calls, although I have left messages to the effect that I want a second opinion, etc. No one else will talk to me.
I also called the Fla. Dept. of Workers Comp. and was told to call my "Managed Care Provider." As an example: when my son broke his arm playing two years ago, he was referred to an orthopedist within an hour of his injury.
Only because I am under "workers comp." am I being denied that same level of care which I would otherwise be entitled to.
Why are injured workers treated like second class citizens, forced to wait for care?
This is America, but quality of care for injured workers is like a third world country. I am shocked!
