Multiple On-The-Job Back Injuries

On June 2nd 1999 I injured my back while working for Otis Elevator Co. The doctor that AIG sent me to simply said it was a muscle strain ignoring the fact that I laid in bed for a week and could not move.

After some light duty I was released to full duty and Injured my back again a couple of months later, only to repeat the same diagnosis and treatment.

I was laid off shortly after the second injury and went to work for another Elevator Co. ( Schindler ) where I injured my back a third time in just three days. Schindler said it was an old injury from Otis and Otis said it was a new injury from Schindler and there was no medical coverage given at that point.

I obtained a lawyer and I have finally started receiving the treatment that I need as of 12/2001. As it turned out I have a disk herniation of the l-4 l-5 disk.

At the time of the injury at Schindler Elevator Co. My wife was a stay at home mom and we were expecting our second child. So being pregnant she could not go get a job and I was unable to work.

We lost our house and car and filed bankruptcy. On 02/26/2002 I go for a hearing to get compencibility determined. In the mean time the insurance co. are using stall tactics and denials to drag this thing out.

The workers comp laws were originally designed to protect the worker is now just big business without accountability to the lives it ruins.
