Nurse Aid Injured While Lifting A Patient
Since I got hurt, my whole world has turned upside down. bill collectors are calling night and day, I cant walk or stand for long periods of time, cant clean my house, the pain is so bad, at times that i want to die! The ones I called friends, act like they don't know me. my family comes in and takes care of me. my back Dr. Bless his heart, is doing all that he can, but I have no money to fix the disc. my grandchildren want me to go outside and play with them, grandma cant play as she use to. so I close with a broken heart for those of us who are forgotten.
I have been a nurse aide for 13 yrs. I worked for a company for the last 7 yrs. I got hurt lifting a patient, I didn't report it the first time because I didn't want to lose my job, I got better, 2 mos. later it happened again. My back hurt so bad I had to call in for work!
The doctor set up a MRI. I left a message with my superior she called back later on that day. I told her the results of the test. They questioned how I got the test done so quickly. Then argued that the injury was not workman's' comp related. In order for my therapy treatments work mans comp papers had to be filed. They filled out the papers, but dated them when the first incident occurred. This made me ineligible for the claim I so needed. They placed me on a family med. leave without pay. How can anyone make it without any pay?
Two months later I received a certified letter telling me that I had been terminated due to no medical update, which was a lie. I was on the phone with them four times in the two mos. and in their office at least five times. to make a long story short, I am still fighting, it has been a year ,but I go to court in Dec. so maybe I can get help to ease my pain, the disc in my back has collapsed.
