Good morning friends and comrades, I am a Marine of 10 yrs and I never been so helpless until I were injured at the Baltimore Ravens New Football Stadium.
In 1998 I was a carpenter's helper framing the scoreboards at the stadium while under construction. We had a crane placing bundle of plywood in desired locations under the scoreboard for easy access for the carpenters. The last 5 bundles had to be located in a area that was to far for the crane to reach because its arm (boom) were too short.
So I were ordered to come in on a Sunday to hand carry them to the desired location for the carpenters. Why on a Sunday? because there would not be a site inspector on the job who would not had allowed the company to use human labor that way.
Carrying the plywood up the bleachers that morning was difficult because of the weather conditions. I carried about 3 sheets up and I tried another when a gust of wind twisted my back as a step with the weight of the wood and I suffered 2 herniated disc to my lower back. I have had 3 failed surgeries and now I have a bone fusion and pain and discomfort for life. The Insurance Company (Kemper) provided me with everything I needed to have a fair chance to return to the workforce.
All necessary treatment that were requested by my treating doctor I received. All physical therapy that were requested I received. Because I have a permanent injury I needed treatment at different times such as the AquaTherapy Kemper Ins. purchased me a Hydromassage Table that is needed for pain management and pain relief. I never been refused no treatment or services until I started having pain and discomfort from the back injury that started affecting other parts of my body mainly the "neck". They refuse treatment to my neck because they said it has no casual relation to my back injury.
I think comparing to others hardships and situations I was treated fairly and just. My main complaints is that the Ins Co. takes too long to determine if the claim is lawful or unlawful.
