Fractured Knee After Slipping At Work

As I was leaving work on December 20, 2001, (I was on company property), I slipped on some ice. My leg went out sideways from my body and I fell on the inside of my knee, causing a compound fracture of the patella and many soft tissue injuries. I was taken to the hospital by ambulance and had surgery the next day. I have had one more surgery since then to remove hardware. I have been off work for over 5 months.

I applied for workman's comp as soon as possible, and was denied because I "was of no greater risk than the general public", and "was not work related", (so this means we must magically appear and disappear from work each day??). I hired an attorney as soon as possible, and I am presently still being denied. Since workman's comp was refused, I have applied for sick leave benefits but was refused because they say the accident WAS work related! I have appealed, and received some benefits, but have been cut off again for reasons unknown.

This has surely been the worst ordeal of my life, and it still isn't over.
