Back Injury On A Construction Job

I was carrying buckets of concrete up step when I hurt my back. This was in November of 2000.

I worked for three weeks in January of 2001. I tried really hard to do my job as a Labor / Concrete Finisher but there was just no way. I had to stop.

I tried again to work I only got threw two days then I could not walk. I could not get out of my car Walking sleeping just every day has been a struggle. When you can not even pick up your only grandchild because of the pain and even if I could I certainly could not go and see him because driving long distances is impossible.

I was in the psych ward because of stress.

I have no insurance now the major worry is My husband who really depended on my job for the insurance. My job was the only insurance we had and he has had several heart attacks two open heart surgeries.

Because we have no insurance and no way to pay the doctor he has not been to the doctor since April of 2001. Doctors and hospitals do not like to even talk to you unless you can pay them up front or have insurance. His heart medicine has not been filled since then and he has not had the proper blood work.

I have went and applied for food stamps but they are still pending and SSI The people there think we are trying to take advantage of them.

The world has stopped turning for us If it had not been for his son we would not have food. Bills have not been paid in about 13 to 14 months we try to keep up the phone and electric.

I keep trying to keep my faith in GOD I know he is there looking out after us because I feel his strength.

I am so sad that they think I am trying to take advantage of the system I just want the system to work.

I know that there are alot worse situations, but sometimes......
