This is a typical story of how AIG handles workers comp cases, as many people, including my lawyers, have told me. It is a shame they can get away with this.
I got hurt lifting and moving a fifty pound bag of dog food at the store I work at. My employer stated to the insurance company that this truly was an injury that happened at work. I started to receive comp payments 5 weeks after this happened because everyone in the AIG office claimed that this file was never given to them by my employer. My employer submitted my claim the day after the accident.
I have been going to my doctor regularly. He put in a request for my neck surgery on Nov. 13 2002. AIG again lost my file or had no idea what I was talking about when questioned why no answer a given in the required 30 days. I also saw one of their doctors who agreed with my doctor on the surgery.
They stopped all payment of income after they reduced my checks for no apparent reason. Finally after my company called them for me they called me back and stated that I needed another second opinion from one of their doctors and I will receive partial payments even though my doctor has had me on a full disability the entire time I have been under his care.
I am about to lose my job because of these stall tactics. I cannot get needed medical care because of these stall tactics. AIG is trying to starve me out and force me to o back to work even though I am not able. My lawyers say they can do what they want until we get a hearing from the New York State Comp board which has been submitted several times.
So I am out of luck and out of a job soon. Too bad for me I guess. What is the real purpose of workers comp?
