To whom it may concern: my wife was injured a few years ago, due to this injury, she has missed a lot of her daughters growing up. She would be furious if she knew I was writing this letter, but someone has to speak up!
The company she worked for at that time was self insured, she ended up having to get a lawyer and changing jobs. My wife has to deal with a genuine back injury every day, many times we find her crying in pain. she cant sit thru her daughters sports events due to the pain, and has not been able to go out and practice with them in the yard. Her attorney recently tried to up her percentage, and won a whole 1 percent.
To add insult to injury, she received a letter telling her after she endorses the check, she will still owe $3 and some change! Now I love the state of Ohio, and have lived here the majority of my life, we are raising our children to be good citizens and follow the right procedures...But ,I have got to ask has the state forgotten about the people who have been injured while working? Is it right that employers get away with mistreating our workers? Does this self insured employer law really work?
Has my wife merely fallen thru the cracks so to speak? I know this letter will probably be ignored but simply being able to voice it helps me to deal with it. Please remember that I mentioned that my wife deals daily with pain, and is somewhat immobile, and has not been able to participate in raising our daughters, and wakes most mornings, having to roll around to get in a position to get out of bed. She still has a full time job, even though it means many nights she just sits on the sofa and cries..... and still pays her taxes!
Please pay attention in Columbus and stop this from happening to other hard working parents in the future Thank you for your time.
