Workman's comp and the unfairness that has happened to our family... On October of 2001 while doing my job that I have been doing for 29 yrs has landed my fate in the ins co hands.
While working on a car at work I stepped on a air hose while carrying a tire and the air hose rolled which landed me on the ground notified the acting supervisor and left for the day didn't think the injury that I sustained at work was all that bad, until the next morning when the alarm clock went off and I was unable to get up. Was in alot of pain and had to call off for the day and went to see my family doctor, who took me out of work indefintly.
I called my supervisor to let them know I would be off for a while he in turn put me in touch with the human res director and I was told I had to go to their panel physician which was 50 miles from my home and 50 miles back. They all passed me around like a cheap bottle of wine. After 45 days and alot of therapy I complained to workman's comp the distance of the drive and the lack of attention of their doctors they released me to go to my doctor who in turn set me up with specialist and before the real TREATMENT could start me on my road to recovery they dropped me.
My 90 days was up they cut all medical benefits, moneys etc., etc..... they claimed that the injury that I sustained did not happen at work. Then the beginning of the courts I had to hire a lawyer in which we have done 90% of the foot work for. We have had there 10 min of FAME and OUR chance to tell the real side of the story. Then they changed their story and stated that I was released to return to work they cut my benefits on 1-18-02 and I never saw the dr until 1-25-02 they stated that the dr released me back to work yet the dr only released me to another Spine specialist who has told me I have a herniated disk with a pinched nerve which limits me to timed sitting, standing & walking or returning to work now down and out with no ins and 8 kids and soon a foreclosed mortgage.
I ask myself how can my GOVERNMENT allow workman's comp to get me away with it if Being unable to collect the disability policy I purchased at work because it is a spin off from the workman's comp policy and not being able to collect public assistance due to being in litigation my whole life has tumbled I was once a hard working man that could provide for my family never missing a day of work now all I know is the pain I suffer day in and day out NO INS, NO MONEY, NO REPAIR
WHAT AN INS POLICY our government has provided.
