Injury occurred in August, 2001 while working as a medical transcriptions. Had informed supervisors for six months that I was in need of mat or carpet for under chair as office is in tiled, linoleum covered room. Not given therefore while leaning forward to retrieve paper from printer, as I was trying to sit back down as chair slipped on floor, I missed chair twisting to left, twisting and jarring neck, back, tailbone and finally ending up hitting left side of face on chair and floor.
Filed incident report immediately and made appointment with my private physician. I did report back to work for 2-1/2 weeks after injury but with increasing amounts of "spells" for which doctor was concerned were seizures caused from the head injury. Sent to neurologist for multiple testing and took off work beginning Sept 1st, 2001, also with no driving restriction which was in place for 8 months until the 3rd of 3 neurologist released me after having multiple EEGs, MRIs, etc...
The original doc i saw left town due to personal reasons, therefore I was seen by an associate who tried to release me back to work...we changed docs going to a "worker's comp clinic/injured workers clinic" which did nothing but screw me even further and this doc who was a chiropractor left his practice with no explanation given...saw third doc who is now my treating doc and as been the best; however MRI of spine showed surgery needed at C6-7 and L3-4 and L4-5 (three fusions at these levels); however it has taken a year to get myelogram approved due to insurance company's denial...finally got that done a year later and now they are denying the surgery ruling it "medically unnecessary" without me even being seen by one of their 2nd opinion docs...we are now in the process of an appeal for this!
As of this time, I have been off work 18 months and no closer to getting this resolved than day one! Just taking more pain meds and feeling like sanity is quickly leaving!
